How to get here and where to stay
By Train:
Getting to Stroud by train is a 90min journey from London and fairly straightforward from other areas of the UK. The station is right in the middle of town.
Use any train ticketing sites to book a return journey to ‘Stroud’.
By car:
Stroud is right by M5 Junction 13 and a nice country drive away from M4 Junction 15 along the A419.
Set any satnav/google maps destination to ‘Stroud’.
If you are not staying at a hotel or Airbnb, we recommend parking at the multistory and adjacent car parks by Waitrose. They are free from 2pm onwards. Dropped pin here.
By air:
If you are coming from abroad, Bristol is the closest international airport. Once you arrive, you need to take an A1 Airport Flyer shuttle bus into Bristol Templemeads, then a train to Stroud with a changeover at Gloucester/Cheltenham or Swindon. Link to Google Maps
Although further away by distance, it can be quicker and simpler to arrive at Birmingham Airport. Get a train from the airport to Birmingham New Street. Frome there, catch the next train to Stroud which generally runs hourly. Link to Google Maps
Places to STay
Stroud is a historic market town where Five Valleys meet. It is known for its involvement in the Industrial Revolution as a cloth town where wollen mills were powered by the small rivers, and supplied from Cotswold sheep which grazed on the hills above.
